Mitochondria are cell organelles essential for neuronal energy production and homeostasis, and their dysfunction is deeply involved in the onset and progression of neurodegenerative diseases. Using neurodegenerative disease models, we are investigating various ways to regulate mitochondrial function and elucidate the mechanisms by which neural function is restored. We are exploring further possibilities for mitochondrial therapy by focusing on mitochondrial function outside the cell as well as inside the cell.
