From the AY2024 master’s admissions and onwards, the Graduate School of Health Sciences will adopt a relaxed document requirement for Japanese language proficiency.
We have now added credible language proficiency test services to accept scores/certificates from more than one assessment body.

Effective AY2024 admissions onwards, we will accept applications with proof of Japanese language proficiency^* as listed below.
Alternatively, current research students of Hokkaido University can turn in a certificate of program completion of the Japanese language program provided by the International Student Center of Hokkaido University.

^*Must be from one (or more) of the following ten government-recognized language assessment tests.

2. Business Japanese Proficiency Test (BJT)
3. J.TEST
4. Japanese Language NAT-TEST
5. Standard Test for Business Japanese (STBJ)
6. TOP JAPANESE (TOPJ)
7. Certificate of Japanese as a Foreign Language (J-cert)
8. Japanese Language Capability Test (JLCT)
9. Practical Japanese Communication Exam (PJC Bridge)
10. Japanese Proficiency Test (JPT)
